About the course
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Computing is a valuable qualification recognised by industry which allows you to develop your knowledge and skills in computing at a higher level.
You will study a range of units including programming, networking, professional practice, database design and development, security, project software and website design.
Students will benefit from our excellent cutting-edge computing facilities, small student groups and extremely supportive, industry-experienced teaching staff.
Assessment
The course is assessed through written and practical work, for example developing apps using software, creating networks using software or creating websites, preparing reports, case studies, and presentations. Assessment methods replicate the real-life professional activities and are an effective way to prepare our students to be the best to employ.
Entry requirements
GCSE English and Maths at A* to C/9-4 (or equivalent)
and 48-64 UCAS Tariff points including maths, science, engineering, computer science, electronic systems or similar
or a Level 3 BTEC qualification / A Level / Access to Higher Education Certificate in one of the following maths, science, engineering, computer science, electronic systems or similar
or relevant work experience
Progression
direct progression to HND in Computing
or to the second year of a degree in Computing, or a closely related discipline at a university.
or to further study such as a Professional Development Qualification or vendor qualifications offered by Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, CompTIA and Oracle
or going into employment or becoming self-employed
