This course is the equivalent of the second year of a bachelor's degree and gives students a practical grounding in a range of business disciplines such as accounting, human resource management, operations management and marketing. The purpose of the course is to ensure the development of skills and knowledge to ensure employability in a wide range of business environments.
About the course
This course emphasises the development and assessment of practical skills relevant to a wide range of business careers. Stage one subjects include business, human resources, finance, marketing, enterprise and opportunity and business in context. Stage two builds further on these modules with an emphasis on skills as well as knowledge, for example, management skills development and the use of computer packages in accounting.
The timetable for this course is arranged on one day a week, so the course can be combined aroud work and personal commitments.
A wide variety of assessment methods are used on the course including assignments, group work, presentations, projects and examinations. Assignment and activities are designed to simulate real-world situations.

The HNC course consists of 4 units, with an additional 4 units for the HND. These may include:

HNC Business. You will need a level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area and four GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English and maths at grade 4 or above. Open to 18 years and over.
Upon successful completion of this course, you can take a third year to study for a degree at the University of Bedfordshire or other participating universities in Marketing Management or Business and Management.
There are very few additional course costs for learners beyond the fee. You will need basic stationery, and a good USB stick and a scientific calculator are useful. We have an excellent library and good IT facilities at college, so if you don't have access to the internet at home, you can complete your work in college..
